If you’ve ever been around someone with an addiction—or have been in that position yourself—you’ll know how utterly destructive addictions can be.
You might also know that, where there’s a real commitment to change, addictions can be overcome. Without that commitment, the awfulness just goes on and on…
Alcoholics, for instance, feel compelled to top up the alcohol level in their blood whenever it drops off. They ruthlessly ignore partners, the obligations of their jobs, and the health, happiness, and wellbeing of their families and everyone around them when the need for booze arises.
While the addict eventually pays with their health, along with their personal and financial security, the toll is undoubtedly heavier for the families, whose view of what’s happening is seen clearly and not through the bottom of a glass.
The UCKG HelpCentre’s Addiction Cleansing Therapy (ACT) meetings offer a solution for addiction by empowering addicts, and their families, to break the dependency and regain control over their lives, whatever habits or substances are involved.
ACT meetings are held regularly at the Rainbow Theatre in Finsbury Park, every Sunday at 6pm. For the next few weeks, however, similar will be held on Friday evenings at 7.30pm, at a number of different HelpCentres, in order to reach out to a wider audience.
