The Calling of the chosen

The Holy Spirit is the infinite glory of the true children of God, born of water and Spirit.

This was Paul’s understanding when he wrote:

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God, and not of us. 2 Corinthians 4:7

But it was not always so.

From Adam and Eve until the day when Jesus breathed the Holy Spirit upon the first apostles, there were no children of God. They believed in Jesus, but only after receiving this breath were they regenerated. This is, born of the Spirit.

Adam and Eve were created by God, not born of God.

No patriarch, priest, prophet, apostle or hero of faith had the honor of being a child of God until his personal experience with the Lord Jesus and then receiving the Holy Spirit.

Jesus was the One who was born of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary.
Only after the coming of the Holy Spirit did the generation of the true children of God begin.

The full assurance of Salvation, the intimate conviction witnessed by the Holy Spirit in our spirit, manifests the Glory of God in His children.

Jesus could not rely on the disciples’ obedience until they were born of His Spirit.

The most they could be considered was friends. Not children.

No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. John 15.15

The position of the son of God is more honorable than that of the angels, since they, like Adam and Eve, were also created, and not born of God.

Therefore, the glorious calling spoken of by the apostles is precisely the condition of being the child of God that each one must protect like the apple of their eye.

As homework, read, meditate, and comment on the following verses.
