In a week’s time, we will enter the second semester of the year. During the past few months, the pandemic has driven many companies to file for bankruptcy. Their vision of the future is dim, so they have resorted to counting their losses and fearing for the worst, as the dawn of the second half of the year approaches.
Maybe this is how you feel – that 2020 is the worst year of your life and someone should wake you up when it’s over. But those who live by supernatural faith don’t see 2020 in that way. Because they hear and obey the word of God, they believe that June and the second semester will be filled with victories – the best year of their lives! They see it as the perfect opportunity for God to manifest His power! For those who are of faith, “insecurity” and “uncertainty” become “security” and “certainty”. While others try to forget, they will look back at this year and remember how God honoured them because of their obedience. And this obedience begins with faithfulness, giving us the right to test the word of God.
“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.” (Malachi 3:10)
How can we have the courage to declare that God can do anything in our lives if we are not faithful? The unfaithful hope for the best, but the faithful can righteously demand that God honours them. They can test God and claim His promises. So, first we need to return to God what belongs to Him, and in doing so, use supernatural faith to face our giants and claim our victory, just like Gideon’s 300.
“And the Lord said to Gideon, “The people who are with you are too many for Me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel claim glory for itself against Me, saying, ‘My own hand has saved me.’” (Judges 7:2)
32,000 men put themselves forward to go to war for Israel, but 300 saw their enemy through God’s eyes – with a bird’s eye view. They were not amongst those who were fearful or shy and told to go home.
“But the Lord said to Gideon, “The people are still too many; bring them down to the water, and I will test them for you there. Then it will be, that of whom I say to you, ‘This one shall go with you,’ the same shall go with you; and of whomever I say to you, ‘This one shall not go with you,’ the same shall not go.” (Judges 7:4)
Even after 22,000 men had been sent away, the 10,000 that remained were tested at the spring and only 300 made themselves chosen. It wasn’t their physical attributes that set them apart, but their supernatural faith! God uses those who are willing to hear and obey, and He gives the capacity to whomever He chooses. On Sunday 7th June, the requests and a picture of the ear of those are willing to hear, will be taken to Gideon’s Spring where the 300 were born, believing that God will shine His light in their lives during this pandemic, and that the second semester of 2020 will be great! The pictures should be sent to info@uckg.ie.
The faithful should prepare themselves to present their tithes on the first Sunday of the month. They should also be ready to test the word of God on Sunday 14th June with an offering of challenge. Listen to God’s voice and obey what He asks of you. If you are faithful, 2020 must be the best year of your life!
