From the moment that we come into the world, we carry an earthly mentality that particularly manifests when we reach an age of knowing between right and wrong. We are born sinners and we cannot avoid having this worldly mind.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2)
However, it is possible to have a new mind. It is necessary to become new creatures; to stop being ‘Jacobs’ to become ‘Israels’ (Genesis 32). And we will take 21 days to do just that!
The Fast of Daniel is back! From 1-21 August, we will abstain from secular media and entertainment – everything that does not benefit us spiritually, so that we can focus on what is everlasting.
Bishop Macedo explains that “whoever does not have the mind of the Lord Jesus does not think like Him. If you have the mind of the Lord Jesus, you think as He thinks.” Therefore, it is vital that we seek to have His mind, which comes through receiving the Holy Spirit.
If you already have the Holy Spirit, it is important to maintain your salvation daily. We live in a world that is full of distractions, and the devil does not stop trying to fill our minds with what is wasteful and filthy so that we are no longer focused on whatever is true, noble, just, pure, lovely, and of good report (Philippians 4:8). So, these 21 days are also for you to revive yourself and renew the mind of Christ within you.
Let’s use this Fast of Daniel to submit and be humble to receive the thoughts of God.
