“Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.” (John 12:3)
In the lead-up to the Holy Week, we reflect on Mary’s action that expressed her love and faith toward the Lord Jesus.
We know that when wearing a beautifully soft, sweet fragrance can be smelt amongst those around us, drawing their attention. The same applies when we express our faith as Mary did.
Mary kept her savings in the form of perfume to use at her wedding. However, she decided to give it as a sacrificial offering to the Lord Jesus in order to exalt Him. Those present were drenched with the smell of the fragrance she poured out to her Lord. This shows that the effects of faith are not limited to the moment it is practised, but it can touch everyone around and last for eternity.
Do you want your faith to impact others? Do you want to become a sweet-smelling fragrance for God with your actions?
Don’t miss this Wednesday’s service, where we will speak more about this and how you too can become the fragrance of Christ during the Holy Week.
