“I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet” Revelation 1.10
Only when you are in Spirit can you listen and obey the Voice of God.
And what does it mean to be in Spirit?
Is it possible to be in Spirit when conditions are favorable? No!
Is it possible to live in Spirit, when our flesh submits to the pleasures of this world? No!
How, then, is it possible to be in Spirit?
1. When our mind is meditating on the Word of God or when our thoughts are submitted to the thoughts of the Most High;
2. When we give up seeing and hearing the things of this world to meditate on the Word. When we go blind and deaf to everything that goes on around us. When we abstain from the internet, television, movies, secular literature and any entertainment that distracts our mind from the things of the Spirit.
It is difficult. It is as difficult as the Salvation of the soul.
The Lord Jesus says:
“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”
Matthew 7.13-14
The truth is, few sacrifice the comfort of the wide gate and the easy way of the kingdom of this world, to secure their entry into the Kingdom of Heaven through the narrow gate. This is why only a few receive the plenitude of the Holy Spirit.
There is no other way, those who want to pay the price to receive the Spirit of God must sacrifice, must abstain from the lusts of the flesh.
The Fast of Daniel is only for those who hunger for the Spirit of God.
