When reading the Bible, we should always keep two things in mind: practical and non-practical information.
Practical information is meant to mold man’s behavior before God, toward others and himself.
The non-practical information only serves to increase the amount of knowledge that does not add up to anything. They are like strange tongues professed before other people. They do not help at all, except when interpreted.
I believe that knowledge is only valuable when it is put into practice.
Job was a practical example of faith, even though he didn’t perform any miracles, he represented Jesus with his unblemished conduct. For this reason, God honored him in front of the devil.
His integrity and righteousness testified his character regarding his neighbor. He was fair to others when making business deals because he was God-fearing. This fear was a kind of bridle when dealing with other people.
And to preserve his fellowship with God, he was careful to flee from evil.
Do you think it’s easy to live in such a corrupt society, in which moral and spiritual values have been reversed? In a world where the law is: each man for himself?
No, it is not!
But the same corruption that took place in his time also took place in the time of Noah, Abraham, Naomi, Ruth, and Daniel. So, what was their secret?
Their secret was to take up their faith in God in a practical way.
Paradoxically, nowadays there is an excellent opportunity to be just like them. All you have to do is act by faith and give this unbelieving world the same lesson Jesus gave to Philip. When he asked Him to show him the Father, Jesus answered:
Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? John 14.9
Christians are responsible for showing Jesus to the world through the testimony of their lives. This is the true principle of Christian faith!
