“Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!” Matthew 18.7
No matter how much a scandal may affect a church (a group consisting of unbelievers and believers), it can never affect the Church (those born of God).
Note both “woes” in the verse above. According to the Lord Jesus, those affected by a scandal are:
- the world: because they become disappointed with the church, which is supposed to give them a good example and Salvation, and
- the man that causes the scandal: because he will be guilty of leading many to hell.
Those who fear God and watch over their Salvation and the Salvation of others, strive to never cause scandals.
