The Day of Pentecost

espiritosanto-706x410

When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2.1-4

Pentecost was one of the three most important annual festivals of the Jews. It was celebrated fifty days after Passover. Its purpose was to thank and praise God for receiving the Law on Mount Sinai and for the harvest of grains. The first fruits, or the first harvest of the earth, were presented to Him at this feast.

It was at this precise moment that the Most High chose to fulfill His promise to pour out the Holy Spirit. From that day on, a new period of faith and spiritual revival began to revolutionize the world through those who believe and are filled with the Spirit.

The baptism with the Holy Spirit enabled each of the chosen to face intense challenges, among them, humiliations, ridicule, imprisonment, stoning and mistreatment for the Name of the Lord Jesus. They were only able to remain firm because they received the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of faith.

Every person that is sealed with the Holy Spirit submits to God’s will and becomes an instrument of the Lord in this world. The Spirit of God prepares and equips you for His Work with gifts and talents. Also, you receive power to resist your own will and overcome the world.

We will be celebrating the Feast of Pentecost this Sunday in every Universal Churches of the Kingdom of God.
