Have you ever taken your phone out, just to kill a couple of minutes and ended up wasting hours mindlessly scrolling through social media? Have you ever said to yourself ‘just one more episode’ and ended up binge-watching a season of your newest show? The same technology that allows us to be connected to anyone on the planet, is also our biggest distraction.
Because of this, we often end up distancing ourselves from what matters the most: our relationship with God.
That’s why the 21 days fast is essential for us to disconnect and focus our attention on our relationship with God – The Holy Spirit.
The Lord Jesus said in John 3:
“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” (John 3:5-6).
Therefore, for a person to be a citizen in the Kingdom of Heaven, they need to receive the Holy Spirit. This means, to receive the heavenly nature from God living inside of us, a complete life transformation from the inside out.
The baptism in the Holy Spirit is a phrase used to describe the fullness of God dwelling within a person. It means having the power, strength, courage and bravery to live on Earth as the Lord Jesus did. When a person is baptised with the Holy Spirit, they immediately receive God’s life-force, which enables them to fight and overcome any battles.
With this in mind, from the 10th of December we will start our first day of the Fast of Daniel, which will take place until the New Year’s Night Vigil on the 31st of December. It will be 21 days of sanctification to God so that He may renew His servants and baptise those who are not yet baptised with His Spirit, so they can start the New Year with Him.
The Fast of Daniel
This fast is based on chapter 10 of the biblical book of Daniel, which describes Daniel’s decision to seek wisdom, understanding and favour from God for 21 days.
