Palm Sunday is an important event for Christians, as it celebrates the day when the Lord Jesus entered Jerusalem triumphantly and was welcomed by a multitude of Israelites carrying palm branches in their hands. Inspired by this act, it became a tradition for people to go out on this date carrying palm branches. However, unfortunately, most of them don’t know the actual meaning behind it.
“The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out: “Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ The King of Israel!” (John 12:12-13).
The Israelites were waving the palm branches as a way of glorifying Jesus and showing that they accepted Him as their King, and that’s the real purpose behind Palm Sunday. With this in mind, this Sunday, 10 April at 10am, we invite you to bring a palm branch to your local Universal Church, symbolising that you accept the Lord Jesus as your Saviour and King. But if you really want to please Him, you should not come just carrying a palm branch in your hand, but also with a sincere desire to know Him and surrender your life into His hands. When you do this, you allow Him to reign over you and do great things in your life.
The Palm Sunday meeting will be a part of our special Holy Week schedule, which will include the “It is Finished” event on Good Friday. Join us and invite a friend or family member, so that they can also accept the Lord Jesus as their King and live a new life in His presence.
