“When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place (…) And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit (…)” – Acts 2:1, 4
On this great day, more than 2000 years ago, the promise that Jesus made to all who believed in His word was fulfilled. The baptism in the Holy Spirit!
This is not a mere story of the past; this promise is still accessible today. Jesus promised to be with all those who love Him and that even in times of hardship, when we are alone, we would have a Helper to comfort and guide us out of that storm.
The Holy Spirit is God living inside of a person, filling them with peace and joy despite external factors and giving them direction and wisdom when they reach their human limits. He is essential for all who aspire to complete their journey of faith and conquer salvation.
“And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever – the Spirit of truth (…)” – John 14:16
Can anyone receive the Holy Spirit?
Yes, however, the Holy Spirit isn’t given to everyone. The Holy Spirit is a gift we receive from God, in exchange for dedication and obedience to His word. It requires preparation and the surrender of practices which are contrary to the Christian faith.
In the Bible, the 50 days leading up to the Day of Pentecost wasn’t just a period of waiting for the disciples, but it was a moment of investment in their personal relationship with God and surrender to His will and plan for their lives.
If you want to learn more about the Holy Spirit and how you can also receive Him, on Wednesday 12 April we begin The Journey to Pentecost. It will be a 7-week purpose on Wednesdays and Sundays, leading up to the day of Pentecost, with the sole purpose to invest in receiving the Holy Spirit!
Every week you will receive indispensable lessons from the word of God and learn how to develop your relationship with Him. If you value the Holy Spirit, don’t miss the opportunity to draw closer to Him. Join us on this journey of 7 weeks at your local Universal Church.
