For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren,Hebrews 2.10-11
Those of us who do the Work of God often complain about afflictions; many even turn away from their calling because of them. However, what many don’t know is that the hardships are precisely what sanctify us! It is not the oil, it is not the bishop, it is not the church, but the trials we face that approve us or not.
Everyone sees the consecration with oil, but the sanctification through sufferings is something personal between the Most High and us! It is an honor for Him to see us overcome, not running away, just like the Lord Jesus overcame.
Many dream of their consecration with oil, but run from the consecration of sufferings. What they don’t know is that they are what makes us worthy of being called children of God and make us a kind of Jesus in this world.
