When David was chosen by God…
Many people have come to us smelling of alcohol or marijuana; some are homeless, some have white powder (cocaine) on their noses, some are half naked – they have a very dirty life. All of them found open doors, were delivered and washed with the blood of Jesus and received a new Spirit, without being rejected or criticised. The reason for that is because God does not see as man sees.
“But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)
When David was chosen by God, what did he smell like? He smelled of grass, manure, dust and especially, sheep. He lived in the countryside. He did not smell good; he did not give off a good scent. But God saw what was inside of him.
Just as David was chosen to become the next King of Israel, many have also been chosen to have a new life. Having received the Holy Spirit, they are now “Christ’s good perfume”.
The Holy Spirit wants to do the same for you. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you “smell” like. Come as you are. The Universal Church is for all.
May the God of the Bible bless you.
