The sleep of death

Dreams don’t only happen at night when you sleep. Those who dream the dreams of God do so during the day, because they blend faith with reason.

However, attentive eyes during the day do not keep a person from the sleep of death. This is what has happened with the fallen and stubborn.

One day they were standing. They achieved significant victories in various areas of life.

But, due to a lapse of faith, they were led by their feeling and fell.

They fell because of a problem in their love life, the love of money, or hurt feelings. The actual reason doesn’t really matter…

The fact is that they fell.

Did they have a way to get back up? Yes.

Did they know how? Of course!

So why didn’t they do it?

Pride.

Pride sustained the thought: What is everyone going to think about me? What about my reputation?

This is, their true concern was not having saddened the Spirit of God.

One of the greatest heroes of the faith, if not the greatest, confessed:

I have sewn sackcloth over my skin, and laid my head in the dust. Job 16.15

During his greatest pain and distress, King David cried out:

Consider and hear me, O Lord my God; enlighten my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death.Psalm 13.3

Perhaps you, my friend, are sleeping the sleep of death because of pride.

Get rid of it while you are alive!

It is better to be humbled while living than to descend to hell full of yourself.

Only sacrifice can break pride.

Have mercy, O my God, of those that are possessed with the spirit of pride.
